Description
Director Hong Sang Soo (Hill of Freedom) reflects on relationships in the romantic feature Right Now, Wrong Then, which tells the same story twice with different outcomes. Starting from the same scenario and characters, the film progresses through two trajectories that show how subtle differences in manners and reactions could create or avoid unnecessary misunderstandings and romantic missteps. Starring Jung Jae Young (You Call It Passion) as a filmmaker and Kim Min Hee (Very Ordinary Couple) as a painter, the twice-told romance won the Golden Leopard and the Best Actor prize at the 68th Locarno International Film Festival. Jung Jae Young also triumphed in the Best Actor race at the 35th Korean Association of Film Critics Awards, the 9th Asia Pacific Screen Awards and the 3rd Wildflower Film Awards.
While in Suwon for a film festival, arthouse film director Ham Chun Su (Jung Jae Young) encounters young painter Yoon Hee Jung (Kim Min Hee). Sharing a common interest in art, the two spend a whole day together chatting happily about their life stories and philosophy on creativity. At night, they attend a party held by Hee Jung's friend but the drunken Chun Su's actions and revelations cause his relationship with Hee Jung to go sour.
