Description
Hong Sang Soo, the director of Right Now, Wrong Then and Hill of Freedom, reflects on love in the well-received On the Beach at Night Alone. At the 2017 Berlin International Film Festival, Kim Min Hee (The Handmaiden) won the Silver Bear for Best Actress for her aching portrayal of a lonely young actress yearning for her lost love. The sentimental film also includes Seo Young Hwa (Alice in Earnestland), Jung Jae Young (You Call It Passion), Moon Sung Keun (Memories of the Sword), Ahn Jae Hong (Fabricated City) and Kwon Hae Hyo (Minority Opinion).

To escape from the stress of her affair with a married filmmaker (Moon Sung Keun), actress Young Hee (Kim Min Hee) gives up her career and retreats to Germany. Though the director promised to join her, she knows he won't. She wants to start afresh in Germany but realizes that she has to face her love. After returning to Korea, she goes to a beach alone where she ponders the meaning of love.
