Description
Kim Ki Duk's controversial 2000 film The Isle explores the agony and possible destruction brought by desire and love. Set in a remote fishing village, the film follows mute protagonist Hee Jin, who sells her body at night for a living. One day, a cop who is running from his crimes comes to the village and the two embark on an addictive, hooked relationship. The Isle stunned audiences not only with its notoriously gruesome scenes but also its bewitching cinematography, bringing isolation, dream state and the unknown onto the screen.
