Screened at the International Critics' Week of the 2015 Cannes Film Festival, Han Jung Hee's directorial debut Coin Locker Girl is a rare female-centric crime action drama. Top actress Kim Hye Su (The Thieves) and up-and-coming ingenue Kim Go Eun (A Muse) make tough turns as a hardened gang boss and her teen protege. Coin Locker Girl also co-stars new-generation actors Park Bo Gum and Go Kyung Pyo of Answer Me 1988 fame.

Abandoned in a coin locker as a baby, Il Young (Kim Go Eun) was saved by a beggar, raised in the streets, then sold off to "Mother" (Kim Hye Su), the cold and calculating leader of a Chinatown-based crime ring. Groomed to do all manners of dirty work, by age 18 Il Young is a seasoned criminal and the heir apparent to Mother's ragtag gang. She begins to have a change of heart, however, after meeting and falling for Seok Hyun (Park Bo Gum), the son of a debtor. Moved by his kindness, Il Young defies orders to kill him, setting her on a bloody collision course with her adoptive mother.
