V6's Okada Junichi and Eikura Nana (April Bride) team up as two members of an organization dedicated to protecting books in an alternate reality in which the media censorship authority has become an oppressive organization. Depicting the fight against media censorship as a literal battle, Library Wars is an explosive drama with spectacular action sequences, a politically relevant message about the dangers of censorship and even a heartwarming romance.
Ever since the Japanese government passed a law banning dangerous books, it has gone as far as taking up arms to make sure the wrong books don't get into the wrong hands. To defend the sanctity of the library and to ensure freedom of expression in Japan, the Library Defense force was established, striking a precarious balance.
Kasahara (Eikura Nana) has joined the Library Defense Force to pursue her prince, an anonymous Library Force member who protected a book for her when she was in high school. However, her instructor Dojo (Okura Junichi) has devised a difficult training regiment that she is physically incapable to handle. Kasahara manages to prove herself and is assigned to Dojo's task force, putting her in the line of fire in the long-standing war between the oppressive Media Betterment Force and the Library Defense Force.
